Where Do We Plan To Travel
Places Of Interest
There's NEVER enough time to explore. We've created a map of some of the interests we have and want to see on this crazy excursion. Sadly the map has over 800 days of experiences outlined. Not everything will be seen, this time. The map will be updated as we travel and find new experiences, or remove places that are deemed not viable.
Red icons are for places we would like to see if time allows.
Blue icons are for places we want to see if at all possible. Pretty much must-haves.
Green icons are for places we visited.
Black icons are for places we did not go...yet.
All icons should provide a small amount of verbiage about the location we've chosen. This could be just the location name, or more information such as trail distance, type, or link to a more thorough description of the experience.
Where Are We On The Trip?
Wondering where we are or what's been happening the last few days? Check out the map below. It logs tracks from our SPOT personal locator beacon (PLB) that we carry. The tracks update every 10-30 minutes, provided a few decent GPS satellite links are available to triangulate the location. There will be a few time periods where no data will be returned as the map only provides the last 7 days worth of data. Once the trip goes live the data feed will start.
Most of the check-ins will be tracks, showing the distance covered and the time.
Once in a while, a custom message will be sent. There are two the unit is capable of. The first one is the "Check In" message. These messages state "Doing OK. Stopping for the day/night.". As you can guess this is to mark the ending point of our daily progress for the multi-day excursions. The other message is if we plan at stopping for an extended period of time, such as a hot spring, waterfall, or vista. That message will state "Wanted to check in. Stopping for a while.".
Unfortunately, the PLB cannot receive messages. We will have to wait until we receive cell service again to receive any responses sent to us.
Please see below to access the SPOT map of where we currently are.
NOTE: We are unfortunately back to the normal lifestyle...for now. The SPOT device has not been used lately and does not load a page if no new data points are added within a month.
